Oman License to Qatar Driving License
I have just completed conversion of my valid/original Oman Driving license to Qatar driving license. Overall it took about 20 minutes for the entire process. To the benefit of entire community, the various steps/procedures and documents required are presented below
Documents required to be submitted to Traffic Department
1. Arabic Letter from your Company/Sponsor. (Though i could not understand the contents of the letter, i could find in it (a) My Qatar ID Number (b) Oman license number with its validity)
2. Company Registration Certificate (Provided by my company along with Arabic letter)
3. Copy of Oman Driving License (Front & Back)
4. Copy of Qatar ID (Front & Back)
5. Copy of passport (First, Last & Visa Page)
Location of Traffic Department & Time
I had submitted the documents to Traffic Department in Maroor near Immigration office. I was there at 7:45 am on a Sunday morning and the office was almost deserted with all counters functioning.
Procedure
1. I went to the reception in “Drivers License” section, where I was provided with an application form. I filled up Name, Nationality, Qatar ID Number in the application form and returned it to the receptionist along with a Photo
2. Photo was affixed on the Application form and was stamped by the receptionist. I was directed to go for eye test with the application form.
3. Eye test location was just opposite to the “Drivers License” section but without any name board, so had to enquire a few to find the location
4. The Eye Test took less than 2 minutes, where I was required to read a mixture of letters and numbers projected on the wall.
5. Once the test was completed, they stamped the application and returned it to me.
6. I took the application back to the receptionist, who directed me to an officer, who checked the application form and asked for the original Oman license. After reviewing he signed and retuned the application and Oman license.
7. I went back to the receptionist who gave me a token number, and asked me to wait.
8. When my turn was displayed at a counter, I handed over the application form along with original Oman License and credit card.
9. After waiting for about 5 minutes I was given the Qatar License, Oman License and Credit card.
10. Charge for the conversion was 250 QR.
